Our sea turtle lighting collection includes amber LED fixtures and shielded wall sconces designed to meet Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) guidelines. If your property is near a nesting beach, you're required to use lighting that won't disorient hatchlings during nesting season (March through October in most Florida counties).
These fixtures use 590nm amber LEDs, which fall within the wavelength range that sea turtles can't detect. The downward-facing design prevents light from spilling toward the beach. We carry wall-mounted sconces and pier mount globe lights in this line, so you can cover most residential and commercial exterior lighting needs.
Why Amber LEDs Over Filters or Shields Alone
Some property owners try to retrofit standard white fixtures with amber filters or add physical shields. That can work short-term, but filters degrade in UV exposure and shields often leave gaps. Purpose-built amber LED fixtures are more reliable and tend to pass FWC inspections without issues. Our polycarbonate housings resist salt air corrosion, which matters if you're within a few blocks of the coast.
